Welcome to Sam’s Guide to Looking Dapper. When selecting your formal suit, the most crucial decision you will make is choosing the right fabric. Today I’m going to show you what to keep in mind when making your selection.

In terms of performance, wool is the most versatile as it’s exceptionally comfortable, inherently wrinkle and odor resistant, and made of natural fibers, making it breathable and environmentally friendly as well.

Type of Wool

When it comes to the type of wool, there are a few key factors to consider, starting with the fineness of the individual fibers. It ranges from Super 100s to Super 200s, and sometimes even beyond. The higher the count, the thinner the fibers, and the smoother the fabric.

When deciding which one to choose, it is important to keep the purpose of the suit in mind. For an everyday suit, a 120s,130s, or even a 150s are all great options for providing an optimal balance between durability and comfort.

A suit over 150s is more luxurious and delicate, and should be reserved for special occasions and less frequent use.

         

Another key factor is the weight of the fabric which is typically measured in grams per square meter, or GSM. The ideal GSM for Dubai’s climate would be a range of 220 to 260 for the warmer months, and 260 to 300 for the region’s cooler months.
